French M1845 Superior Officer's Sabre, (1848)

French Model 1845 Superior Officer's Sabre. Bright approx. 34" three fullered straight blade engraved on one side, "Manufature de Chatellerault' & on the other , "Mars 1848". Nice gilded bronze hilt with J.M in an oval & a number "1117", wood grip with wire intact. Double ring steel scabbard stamped near the throat, "MANCEAUX, A PARIS". Known for producing Presentation Swords. This pattern of sword was commonly used during the US Civil War.
