Description
French 1766 Flintlock Infantry Musket. Lock is marked, "M de Maubeug" with steel pan & hardened frizzen. Baynet lug on the bottom of the barrel. Button tip steel ram rod. Great numbers of these were sent to North America in support of the Americans in the War of Independence against the British. Also refered to as the Model 1763 lightened. It is this model that the US Model 1795 is patterned after.
